4 of the Best Golf Club Shafts for 2024

2024 is now more than half over, so it’s fair to say that we can say with confidence what some of the best golf club shafts of 2024 have been, not just what we think they will be.

With that said, here are some of the best of the bunch, vetted by results as well as by golfer consensus.

Autoflex Golf Shafts
At this point there’s nothing new about Autoflex golf shafts, but they remain among the best of the best golf club shafts in the sport in 2024.

What makes them popular today is the same thing that made them popular on their release about 4 years ago.

They are extremely light and have thin walls, yet are surprisingly stable, and claim that they can increase club head speed and carry distance for golfers of all skill levels, without requiring any other adjustments.

For the most part, golfers have corroborated this, there’s just one caveat. You shouldn’t use an Autoflex shaft with a club head that’s too heavy for it or you might damage the shaft.

Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green
Project X golf’s HZRDUS Smoke Green, affectionately known as the “Hulk” is the company’s stiffest, lowest-launching, lowest-spinning shaft of the line.

There simply isn’t a better golf shaft in the Project X lineup for players with strong, aggressive tempos and equally fast swing speeds.

It is exceptionally stiff, produces insanely low launch and spin, and generates long, straight, penetrating drives with minimal shot dispersion.

It is the shaft if you have a strong, fast swing – just make sure you’re up for the challenge. If you’re looking for stiffer shafts that produce low ball flight and allow you to hit the ball further on your own merits alone, there is hardly a better option than this.

Fujikura Ventus Black
The Fujikura Ventus Black is another frequent flier on “best of” lists, and while it isn’t new, it remains a solid pick for players with fast, strong swings.

Like the Project X HZDRUS Smoke Green “Hulk,” the Ventus Black generates low launch and spin, has a high kick point and a low torque rating. Shaft flex ratings vary but inevitably they are all very stiff.

It, like the Hulk, is best suited for players with really strong swings, who need long, straight, piercing drives. The difference is that the Ventus is stabilized by VeloCore Technology, which helps minimize shot dispersion even further.

Project X HZRDUS Smoke Yellow
Now let’s switch gears slightly and put the spotlight on the Project X HZRDUS Smoke Yellow, which like the Hulk produces low launch and spin, but is less extreme about it.

Rather, the Smoke Yellow is a better choice for players who prefer a smooth-swinging shaft. For players with an easy, relaxed tempo, this is a better option.

It’s also counterbalanced, which means it swings more naturally and more consistently with heavier driver heads.

With that being said, the Smoke Yellow has a firmer mid-section, which means it’s slightly better than the original at handling faster, stronger swings.

Consider it like the Smoke Green but less extreme, and more accommodating of slower, more tempered swings.
