The Selling Points of a Hybrid WOOX Gun Stock

Not to hype the idea up excessively, but WOOX gun stocks are miracles of modern innovation. The folks at WOOX saw there was an age-old issue that needed to be fixed, so they put a modern spin on an age-old thing: a gun stock.

For eons, wood gun stocks reigned supreme, until they were replaced by modern alternatives like fiberglass matrices and high-end polymers.

A WOOX gun stock is neither of these things. It is a hybrid stock, made with aluminum and wood, giving you the aesthetic of the latter paired with the practicality of the former.

And so, here are all the best selling points of a WOOX gun stock – almost without respect to the model you choose.

Improved Strength

Wood is strong, that much is sure, but it is also not that wear resistant, and it is weak along the grain. This can cause spitting and cracking if the wood is not properly cared for.

Only the strongest, hardest woods can rival aluminum for strength and stability, and the truth is aluminum rivals steel for strength despite being only a small fraction of the weight.

Resistance to the Elements

Wood may be strong and durable, but it absorbs moisture and it is prone not only to wet and dry rot, but to UV-induced decay. Rain and high humidity, as well as temperature shifts, can all wreak havoc on wood.

Aluminum is not like this. It is not porous or absorbent and is effectively immune to UV related decay. And, while aluminum can corrode in highly humid conditions, it’s still fairly resistant.

Lower Maintenance

Wood needs to be cleaned and oiled periodically, as well as sealed to protect it against moisture and light.

Aluminum is resistant to these things to begin with, but WOOX gun stocks are made with hard anodized aluminum. For you that means there’s effectively no maintenance to render. Cleaning them is more of an enjoyable ritual than a necessity.

Potentially Lighter Weight

One thing about wood is that it can be really heavy. This is especially true of woods like maple and more pointedly walnut that are commonly used to make gun stocks.

WOOX gun stocks, though they incorporate wood, are really made mostly of aluminum, which is almost invariably lighter. There are species of wood that are lighter than aluminum but you aren’t going to find many of them in gun stocks if you find any at all.

Improved Accuracy

When it gets really humid, wood absorbs moisture. When it gets dry, wood releases moisture. This changes the dimensions of the wood in question.

Which means when you have a wood stock, changes in atmospheric conditions will impact your point of aim.

Not so with WOOX gun stocks, which are primarily aluminum and therefore are 100% consistent and accurate, 100% of the time.

Better Customizability and Expansion

One last thing to love about WOOX gun stocks is that most models offer significant customizability and adjustability with respect to length of pull (LOP) and comb height.

And, on top of that, many WOOX stocks have M-LOK slots and sections of Picatinny rail that are ripe for customizing with shooting accessories.
