Golf Bags for Sale: About Weight - eWriterForYou - Best Guest Posting Site

Golf Bags for Sale: About Weight

Golf bags for sale are not all one ilk. Discounting travel bags for the time being, there are two main categories of golf bags: cart bags and stand bags.

Here’s what you need to know about weight with a few other notes mixed in.

How Much Should a Golf Bag Weigh?

How much a golf bag should weigh depends primarily on two things: how much you want to carry and how you golf.

If you golf mostly from a cart and carry a lot of clubs and gear, what you probably need is a cart bag. Cart bags are also suitable for use with push carts.

Most cart bags are a little bit heavier than their counterparts (stand bags) and will weigh somewhere between 5 and 10 pounds before you load them up.

If you golf by walking the course, you probably would do better with a stand bag.

Most golf stand bags are extremely lightweight and only weigh between 2 and 5 pounds, although there are exceptions.

Stand bags are made with collapsible legs that make it possible for a golfer to “stand” the bag up on its own while teeing off – something you can’t do with a cart bag.

They tend not to have as much room as cart bags, but since they are much lighter, it is easier for golfers to carry them around the course unaided.

How to Lift a Golf Bag?

Whether you walk the course with a stand bag or use a cart bag, you need to be smart about how you lift and carry the bag, simply because doing so the “wrong” way can result in injury that will adversely impact your game.

The first thing you need to do is get close to your golf bag and get low. Don’t try to lift it by reaching far out in front of you or by bending over it.

Bend your knees, squat down slightly, and then lift with your legs instead of your back.

Following this basic protocol should help prevent some of the common issues associated with lifting and carrying golf bags.

What Other Features Should You Look for?

In addition to lightweight design, there are other features you should consider in golf bags for sale. For instance, some of these are:

  • Construction from durable materials
  • Water-resistant or waterproof design.
  • Whether or not it comes with a rain hood or fly
  • The number of pockets or dividers
  • Whether or not it has full-length shaft dividers
  • What types of specialized pockets it has
  • What sorts of carry system it has
  • For cart bags, whether it has a system that will enable you to access all your gear from the front

How to Make Sure Your Bag Lasts (Maintenance)

It’s also important to know how to care for your golf bag in order to protect your investment.

For one thing, don’t leave it out in the sun, as UV light will damage not only your clubs and gear (where exposed) but also the bag’s material.

Don’t store your bag in the trunk or in the garage, as extreme summer temperatures can damage the bag or cause the deterioration of your gear. Specifically, high temperatures will cause the breakdown of the epoxy that binds the head of a club head to the shaft.

When you play in the rain, get the bag home, take it inside, empty it out, turn it upside down to drain, and store it in a warm, dry place to thoroughly dry out before you use it again. This will help prevent the growth of mold and mildew.
