eCommerce SEO Services in the Era of AI

One of the trending topics over the past three years, over which content creators have made hay, has to do with eCommerce SEO services and its role in the era of AI. Just as importantly, can eCommerce SEO companies still compete effectively in the sphere of digital marketing?

The advent of artificial intelligence has digital entrepreneurs and digital marketers wondering how it fits into the conventional marketing landscape, and rightfully so.

More pointedly, digital marketing and online store administrators are wondering – are eCommerce SEO services still effective given the fact that more people are using engines like ChatGPT, and how does it all work together?

The AI-SEO Crossover

Here’s a little secret: as many people as are using AI engines, Google is still king. It still gets inestimably more searches per day than all the other AI engines put together. It even has its own little AI feature, the AI overview, which is directly tied up with SEO efforts.

You may have noticed that over the past few years, old conventional tactics in eCommerce SEO services, like buying links, using low-quality links, spam content, and hidden content all got reclassified as “black hat” SEO.

These were tactics that once produced results, but which now will incur a penalty. Subsequently, the value of quality content and copy took a front seat in SEO. Nowadays, to be effective for an eCommerce website, SEO strategies must rely on quality copy.

This is where the big overlap between effective SEO and AEO, or answer engine optimization (which is basically the use of AI engines) lies.

High quality copy on a website, specifically for target landing pages, has a good chance of being featured in Google’s AI overview, or populating the search results in other search features such as the People Also Ask section, or as a featured snippet.

Moreover, it has a better chance of being featured as an output through ChatGPT, or ChatGPT’s novel search engine feature.

Here’s why (and it’s no big secret). ChatGPT’s main data set, if not only data set, is basically the entire corpus of the internet.

What’s more, ChatGPT can probably only reasonably access what Google (or other search engines) have already indexed. Which means ChatGPT’s outputs are at best simply a refinement of Google’ preexisting search results.

If this makes answer engines seem less valuable, or less insightful, well, there’s an argument to be made for that. Either way, it definitely means this: what produces good results in SEO also produces results in answer engines like ChatGPT.

The point is this: quality eCommerce SEO services rely on high-quality content that answers questions. High-quality copy improves a website’s rankings in the search engine results pages, and as a result, it also indirectly improves a company’s visibility through answer engines like AI models.

In a nutshell: good SEO is good for AI, so if what you’re doing in digital marketing is pursuant to an effective SEO strategy, it’s good for AI, too – at least until something changes.

eCommerce SEO Companies: Still Relevant in 2025 and Presumably Beyond

One more thing about eCommerce SEO services and AI: Google gets many, many more searches per day than ChatGPT. Not only does Google get an estimated 16 billion or so searches per day, but that’s about twice as many daily searches so far in 2025 as it got in 2024.

In other words: people are not still using Google. They are using Google at a higher rate than they were last year. Either that, or more people are using Google than they were just a few months ago.

Which means that, in a nutshell – yes, a search engine optimization campaign with an eCommerce SEO company can still still be worth the investment and have a big impact on user experience and organic traffic, even a quarter of the way through the 21st century, period.

Two Basic Upgrades You Can Make to Your Unicycle

Fortunately, unicycles are simple machines with relatively few parts, as machines go. This makes them easy to maintain and makes it (relatively) easy to understand their operation. It also means that when it comes to upgrades, you’re somewhat limited in what you can do. The flipside of this is that effectively anyone with a working […]
