3 Ways To Make Your Small Bedroom Better

Your bedroom should be a sanctuary. It’s the place where you lay your head down at the end of the day, and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be the best it can be.

For those living in small spaces, though, decorating it can be a conundrum. Most of the time, the bed takes up a lot of space, leaving little room for other things. Fortunately, there are ways to get around this challenge so you can have the bedroom you’ve always wanted. Read on:

Make your furnishings work for you
Most pieces of furniture are made for a single purpose: for example, chairs are made to be sat on, beds are for sleeping in, and so on. However, there are plenty of furniture options now that offer a bit more functionality.

For example, you should be able to find beds that offer plenty of storage space underneath them–a lifesaver for the spatially-challenged. There are tables out there that fold in on themselves and can be used as a full dining table or a breakfast nook, depending on the situation.

This end table with a charging station from ATAMIN is also an excellent space-saving addition to any bedroom. It comes with an attached lamp for illumination, and has a built-in charging station with three inputs: one for USB-C, another for USB-A, and an AC outlet. It’s a great way to declutter your bedroom. You can also use the shelves to store books or mementos that you’d like to keep close.

In addition to the AVA end table with charging station, ATAMIN also offers floor lamps with shelves or storage drawers. Like the end table, these can be used to display photos and art in your bedroom while providing ambient light. With their minimalist design and narrow silhouettes, they won’t take up much space, either.

Use mirrors
Just because you’re working with a small area doesn’t mean that it has to feel like it. Interior designers have long used mirrors to create the illusion of more space and make rooms feel bigger than they actually are.

Not just any mirror will do, though. Small mirrors simply won’t have that widening effect, and they won’t be big enough to reflect the light necessary to brighten up a room. Go for an oversized mirror with a simple, thin frame instead. This should instantly make the bedroom feel less cramped.

As for where to hang the mirror, choose a bare wall and make sure that it’s eye level. On average, this means putting it up at least 60 inches from the floor. Your wall art should similarly be hung at that height to create a sense of uniformity.

Splurge on comfort
According to research, the average American will spend 36 years in bed over the course of their life. That’s nearly half the time you spend on earth, which is a good reason to invest in comfortable bedding.

Forget flimsy mattresses and lumpy pillows: given how much you sleep, it’s a good idea to put your money towards high-quality staples that will last for years. Not only will you sleep better; beds and bedding that give off a soft, comfortable appearance are always better to look at than an old bed and threadbare sheets.

Just because your bedroom is smaller than you’d prefer doesn’t mean that you have to compromise on style and comfort. You can still rest and recharge in luxury if you make thoughtful choices on how to adorn it properly.
